PAULO SOUSA RETURNS TO BOOST SEAGULLS’ SQUAD

Mousehole AFC are delighted to confirm that Paulo Sousa, one of Mousehole’s many outstanding performers of the last few years, has committed to another season at the Trungle Parc club.

He is available for selection as The Seagulls host their big FA Cup Preliminary Round tie against Plymouth Parkway tomorrow (Saturday 21st).

Last in action for Mousehole in December, when they were top of the League, Paulo returns as the team have made a promising start to the new season after a historic promotion to the Western League and a winning first-ever FA Cup appearance in the Preliminary Round.

A naturally left-footed player who can play as a defender or wing-back, Sousa originates from Madeira- the same birthplace as Cristiano Ronaldo – and has thrilled the Trungle Parc faithful for four seasons with his eye-catching displays of skill, speed, tenacity and assists, as well as a fair number of goals in his own right.

Mousehole Manager Jake Ash likens Paulo Sousa to a new signing, even though he is so well known at the club:

“When the pandemic really ramped up at Christmas, we had no hesitation in suggesting that he went back to see family.  So we haven’t seen him since then. But he is so familiar with the club, and the club with him, that although he will take a little bit of time to be ready for a full 90 minutes, he will bed in so fast.”

“Paulo has tremendous ability and brings so many talents to the team and club at large. I am so pleased to have him back and can’t wait to see him on the pitch again in a Mousehole shirt.”

Paulo is enjoying the prospect of resuming his career with The Seagulls:  “I’m looking forward to being able to get back to the coaching sessions and to improve in every single aspect so I can help the team progress – starting with the FA Cup.”

“I’m also really happy to be surrounded by a group of people within the club who have an elite mentality and a relentless mindset, and a group of players who are strong characters and friendly personalities – Mousehole’s ‘core assets’”.
