PROGRESS REPORT ON THE FIRST TEAM SQUAD’S PRE-SEASON PROGRAMME

  • Three games played.  Three to go.

  • Won 1, Drawn 1, Lost 1, scored 5 (five different scorers), conceded 4

  • Player-Manager Steve Parker-Billinge says:  “It’s been a good start to the pre-season programme, in which we have really built on all the great news off the pitch.  We now showing signs of playing to a pattern to match the coaching style.  The lads – the established players, the 16-23 year olds in the Elite Programme and new signings – have all begun to adapt well to how we intend to play.  There’s still plenty more work to be done before the season starts in three weeks’ time, but I am very happy with our progress thus far”.

  • Saturday 8th July  – at Premier Division Callington Town.  Lost 1-2 (half-time 1-1) after taking the lead through a first-half Bradley Wills header

  • Saturday 15th July  – at Premier Division Newquay.  Drew 2-2 (HT 0-1) after being 2-0 in the lead with goals from Matt McIlroy after 28 minutes and Luke Johnson on 50.  To allow all squad members game-time, both sides made many changes in the last half hour, with the balance of play shifting slightly in the hosts’ favour – they equalised with goals after 71 and 81 minutes

  • Tuesday 18th July – at Pendeen Rovers, recently promoted to the Cornwall Combination League.  A hard-working 0-2 win (HT 0-2) with a headed goal from Ben Williams (28 minutes) and a lofted drive by Tyler Tonkin (35).
