MAX GILBERT JOINS MOUSEHOLE’S HIGH-FLYING SQUAD

Mousehole have signed talented young midfielder Max Gilbert ahead of their mouth-watering home match against Saltash United tomorrow (Saturday 26th September).

The 20-year old has been a regular feature and star performer in Bodmin Town’s line-up, with a knack of scoring goals from midfield.

The nephew of Bodmin manager Darren Gilbert, he has also represented Cornwall Youth and was selected for the Kernow FA squad for this year’s CONIFA World Cup.

Football Director Adam Fletcher explained:  “Max has been on our radar for a long time now.  He is well known to Jake (Mousehole’s Manager Jake Ash), who played with him at Bodmin, as well as First Team coach Andy Graham, who coached him for Cornwall Youth and Kernow FA..  Both speak very highly of him.  Max can play as a 4/8/10 and we’re looking into the possibility of playing him as a 9, so he adds lots of quality and depth to the squad!”

Gilbert is expected to be available for selection for the intriguing encounter with Saltash United at Trungle Parc (kick off 3pm).  Mousehole have won all four of their opening league matches, scoring 23 goals and conceding just one in the process.  Similarly, The Ashes have made an unbeaten 7-game start, including wins in the FA Cup and FA Vase against higher-league opposition.
